WPPI Adds Filmmaking Seminars to Annual Wedding & Portrait Photographers Trade Show and Conference in Las Vegas

Leading Cinematographers Develop Comprehensive Series of Seminars Dedicated to Wedding and Event Filmmakers

Wedding and Portrait Photographers International (WPPI)

announced it will add a series of seminars and symposiums dedicated to the art of filmmaking at the annual Wedding & Portrait Photography Conference and Expo in Las Vegas, February 27-March 6, 2014.

The new series of seminars titled, WPPI: Filmmaking, was created by many of the industry’s best cinematographers to provide a creative outlet for filmmakers specializing in weddings and special events. This series of seminars will specifically focus on new techniques — and technologies –to help filmmakers reach the next level of creative expression to share and incorporate into client projects. While the seminar tracks will cater to the needs of filmmakers, photographers looking to expand their knowledge of filmmaking and video production, are encouraged to attend.

“Each year we’ve seen an increase in wedding and event filmmakers joining our conference,” explainsJason Groupp, Director of Education and Membership. “In conjunction with some of the industry’s best cinematographers, WPPI: Filmmaking is a program specifically designed for wedding and event filmmakers. WPPI is structured as an environment for teaching and learning and we know that WPPI: Filmmaking will add to the educational experience.”

“For years the video industry has had nowhere to come together and feel what the pulse of the industry is like,” explains Joe Switzer, a cinematographer and photographer at SwitzerFilm and a speaker at WPPI 2014. “WPPI Filmmaking will allow attendees to recharge their creative batteries and make contacts with some of the most talented artistsin the business.”

Supporting manufacturers such as Sony, Canon, Nikon, FujiFilm, and Lumix G, will be participating in the show. Attendees participating in the Filmmakers Conference will learn the latest techniques from many of the industry’s top filmmakers, the business of filmmaking, several networking events, and a wedding film and event competition that rivals WPPI’s worldrenowned print competition.anufacturers of video and filmmaking hardware, software and accessories will also be on display throughout the WPPI Expo March 3-5, 2014
